ColorSeed™ is a revolutionary internal calibration standard for Cryptosporidium and Giardia testing. ColorSeed™ contains 100 inactivated Cryptosporidium and Giardia (oo)cysts, all permanently labelled with red fluorescent dye.

ColorSeed™ takes quality control of testing Cryptosporidium and Giardia to a revolutionary level by including a control sample in every sample being tested. When added to the test sample, it provides the analyst with an internal quality control parameter against which the performance of every test can be measured.

ColorSeed™ is sealed, sterilised and stable for 4 months.

To use ColorSeed™, one simply adds the contents of a vial to every sample to be analysed. With ColorSeed™ added, the sample is analysed through the normal procedure. During the final microscopic detection stage of the test, the analyst can identify ColorSeed™ Cryptosporidium and Giardi (oo)cyst (fluorescing red) and intrinsic sample Cryptosporidium and Giardi (oo)cyst (fluorescing green).

The number of ColorSeed™ Cryptosporidium and Giardia (oo)cysts detected provides the percentage recovery achieved in the sample.
